Consumer Industry / Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Company-Case Study
Our Client is a leading global food and beverage company with brands that are respected household names throughout the world. Our client offers products to over 200 countries and territories, and their Global Brands are their biggest sellers. These flagship food and beverages are 22 iconic, billion dollar brands. Their Korean operations had a need for a qualified and successful senior director of marketing.
The leaader needed to have experience working in a fast moving consumer goods companies. The right person also would be well educated within notable foreign or Korean higher educational systems. They would also have experience working in multinational companies in Korea, specifically with distributors and have experience working in Asia Pacific. Being fluent in English and Korean and the potential of taking on greater responsibilities within the company was also mandatory.
This project was an attractive opportunity but the level of expertise within marketing with notable FMCG companies was limited. Anytime benchmarking with the greatest companies is required the difficulty rises based simply on the limited size of the talent pool. Prior to having McKinney Consulting take over the search, our client had exhausted their efforts with local ads for the opening and personal networks came up empty. Their request was that McKinney Consulting locate, source, attract, and present qualified candidates in a timely manner that would allow them to hire and get settled before their next big marketing campaign opened in 12 weeks. This meant that we had to have the candidate started in about 8 weeks.
With an in-depth analysis of our client’s needs, and a lengthy discussion regarding the client’s culture, and vision for this person’s contributions, our Executive Recruiting Team worked to ascertain the critical competencies of the position and personality traits of hiring managers and partners to build an accurate and detailed profile of the ideal candidate.
McKinney Consulting utilized its unique search process to locate, contact, assess and submit some of the finest talent in the local marketplace. This process generated ample candidates with the select criteria who were able to relocate to this job.
McKinney Consulting successfully found several candidates that our client was interested in hiring. The woman who ended up receiving an offer and was hired had the experience, knowledge and relationships with some of the exact people they were going to be working with for our client. This Marketing professional was not only considered a “local candidate” (saving our client relocation cost) but already had the core values and competencies to be a long-term asset to our client’s culture and continued growth in the marketplaces they serve. This mutually-beneficial relationship helped facilitate the growing collaboration, trust, and understanding between McKinney and our client. This result has been, and will remain the cornerstone of our successful partnership.
